This is the view from mom and dad's backyard. Actually, I think this was taken near the hottub, so you could see this while sitting in the hottub. Nice!

This is Lost Horse Canyon, in the Bitteroot Mountain range, western Montana. This gorgeous view is not too far (a few hours by ATV) from my parents new place. How lucky!

Here's the baby hat I made for Bob & Christy's baby to be. I spun the yarn with this baby in mind and wanted a hat that would fit Bob's personality. I think it works. The curls make me giggle. I hope that they'll like it!

I just finished this, out of yarn that I spun myself. I'm so proud of it that I could just about explode. I'm pretty sure that most of the neighbors would think I'm weird if I went door to door with it, though, so I'm showing you. I'll be bringing it to knit club on Saturday, for everyone to ooh and aah over it. I think from now on, I'm only going to use handspun yarn to knit with (just kidding, I have a huge stash that would be very upset if I did this).

What's that white stuff around the door? Hey, that looks like trim!

If you do, you can just make out a blue sign right next to the yellow turn sign (you can click on the picture to make it bigger). That blue sign says "Welcome to Idaho". It's about 30 miles away from my parents new place in Montana. When we left, I asked Dan if he wanted to cross the border quick, so that we could say we'd been in all three states that day. Unfortunatley, he didn't care that much about Idaho, so we just went home instead. Maybe next time, Idaho. I'm sure that you're a good state.

Here's my latest favorite. I spun this BFL combed top from Lisa Souza while in Darby visiting the family. It's 4 oz of loveliness. The colorway is called Gingerpeach, and I'm thinking about a shawl with it. I had originally thought socks, but I think it's a bit thin for that.

Our trip to Montana was lovely. Dan took a lot of amazing photos while on a ATV trip into the mountains with my dad and grampa. I'll share some more of those with you all later this week. I'll also be posting some pictures of the yarn I scored on Ravelry this morning sometime.
We had a great time, saw lots of family members and really cool looking sites. I even drove past the studio for Mountain Colors yarns while on my way to Missoula to shop. More later.

It's just about time for my coworker, Bob, and his wife to have their baby (well, November actually). I figured that now would be a good time to get going on the baby hat. Bob is into Bob Marley, so I'll be doing the Baby Marley hat from Itty Bitty Hats. I hope they like it.

It's Labor Day weekend and we are laboring*. We installed the front door 42 months ago (that's 3 and a half years, people) and now, thanks to my constant nagging and $400 worth of new tools, we are finally installing trim! Yay! Never give up the dream. If you can nag him, he can do it! Happy Labor Day!
*Pictures of actual finished work to come.

I should have been knitting, or even spinning, for the Ravelympics this past week. Instead, I decided to see what all the hubbub was about and picked up Twilight. I got hooked and spent last week reading the entire series. Good stuff, highly recommended if you enjoy a good vampire tale or love story, or better yet, the two combined.
Now that I'm done, and have nothing to read, maybe I can get back to my knitting.
Not too long from now, I'll be on vacation in a place that looks like this. Yay! We've had some interesting news here. Dan and I are going to be grandparents. Cool trick to be a grandma and not even be a mother! Dan's daughter is pregnant, and that leaves lots of things in the air right now for her future. It's a big set-back, considering that she was just getting her life on the right track. Things will work themselves out, though, so I'm not too worried about it.
In knitting news, it's looking like I'm not going to finish the KH cardigan by the end of the olympics. I do have to credit the Ravelympics for getting me going on it though. I just bought those really expensive buttons for it and expect them to arrive soon. That ought to give me the extra motivation to finish it up.
Okay, today I spun bamboo for the first time and I spun low-twist singles for the first time. I'm in love with the results!
Must have more bamboo.

Poor Emma. She's afraid of thunderstorms. Her best hiding place is here, behind the couch. From here she can whine and cry, but no one can get at her to comfort her which makes her that much more pitiful.

This is not the world's most flattering picture, but then what did you expect? Dan can't be bothered to stand up to take it, so it's taken from a really bad angle (the only kind you can get from the recliner). Seriously!
Anyway, that's not the point. The point is that the sweater is done, the sweater fits, I'm happy with it and the sweater is hot. Not wearing the sweater again until the weather gets much, much colder. Okay, off to knit the rest of Betsy's baby blankie.
